Where Can I Play Arcade Rhythm Games?

Dance Dance Revolution may not be as popular as it was in the 2000s, but there's still great places to play these amazing games in Idaho! Though Idaho doesn't have a Round1 location, a few independent arcades more than make up for it.

We'll give a quick run-down of where you can play DDR, Chunithm, Groove Coaster, and more in the Boise/Meridian/Nampa area. Many of these games aren't a household name like DDR, but still have a strong local community that loves playing them.

Jeremy's Downtown Arcade

StepMania, Dancerush Stardom, + many more

Jeremy's Downtown Arcade is easily the community's favorite place to play dance games, and one of two public arcades in the area with other Japanese-import rhythm games.

Jeremy's has a community-maintained StepMania cabinet (think DDR but with custom songs and USB memory cards), Dancerush Stardom, Wacca, SDVX, and several other JP-import games, both rhythm and not. A variety of other 90s-2000s arcade and pinball games have a solid presence here as well.

Realms

DDRMAX 2, Chunithm, and more

Realms is a combination music venue, arcade, and hangout spot with frequent concerts and events.

Game-wise, they cater mostly to those looking for pinball and 80s-90s arcade games, but the inclusion of a few other JP-import games (Chunithm, Groove Coaster, SDVX, among others) makes it well worth the trip. All in great condition.

Pump it Up XX DX, Guitar Hero AC

If you've never played Pump it Up before, it's a popular choice among some dance game enthusiasts that's well worth a shot. Especially if you like K-Pop.

The condition of the pads has historically varied wildly. If you're just getting into dance games it may work fine, but more experienced players will likely see issues with notes dropping often.

Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA 2, Guitar Hero AC

For those in the Meridian/Eagle area, the DDR SuperNOVA 2 machine at Big Al's may be worth a shot.

This cabinet however is not without issues - Pad sensitivity issues make it challenging to play without stomping hard on the panels. Unless you're after some of the SuperNOVA 2-exclusive songs, I personally would suggest passing on this one.
